SmartSoft High-Speed Measurement Software User Guide

Overview

SmartSoft 3.0.2 is a simple, high-speed measurement software developed by Pynect for NIR spectrometers, mainly for high-speed automatic data storage scenarios. This version is a temporarily developed feature-focused version; users can achieve batch, continuous and automated data acquisition through the combination of project management + auto save.


1. Creating and Opening a Project

SmartSoft uses a project management mechanism; all auto-saved data is stored in the specified project directory.

1.1 Create a Project

  1. Click the Project button in the upper-left corner.
  2. In the pop-up dialog, select the target storage path.
  3. Enter the project name and click OK to finish creating it.

1.2 Open a Project

Important: you must open the project manually before the auto save feature can write data to the correct project directory.

  1. Click the Open Project button in the upper-left corner.
  2. In the pop-up dialog, select the project folder you just created.
  3. After verifying the path and name, click Open.

2. Auto Save Settings

Click the Auto Save button to open the settings dialog:

Interval Interval between two auto saves (ms) ≥ 50 ms recommended
Save count Automatically stops after reaching this count Set as needed

Note: the interval should not be too short (50 ms or more is recommended); the actual communication and storage speed varies with computer performance. An interval that is too short may cause data loss or the program to freeze.

After clicking OK, the auto save feature is configured.


3. Starting the Measurement

  1. Confirm the device is connected and the model and serial number appear in the lower-left corner of the software.
  2. Confirm the correct project is open.
  3. Confirm the auto save parameters are configured.
  4. Click the Start button.

The spectrometer begins continuously acquiring spectral data at the set interval and automatically saves it to the auto_save subfolder in the project directory. It stops automatically after reaching the set measurement count.


4. Viewing Data

After the measurement stops, go to the auto_save directory under the project path to view all saved spectral data files. The data files are CSV text format and can be read and analyzed directly with tools such as Excel, MATLAB or Python.


5. Notes

  1. Y-axis auto-scaling: the software automatically adjusts the vertical axis range based on the current signal intensity. If there is no light signal in the environment, noise will also be displayed amplified; pay attention to the order of magnitude of the vertical axis scale values.

  2. You must open the project: if you forget to open the project and click Start directly, the data will not be saved to the expected directory.

  3. Interval setting: a save interval that is too short may cause incomplete file writes. For an ordinary PC, 50 ms is the recommended lower limit; a higher-performance workstation may shorten it appropriately.

  4. Continuous operation: watch the remaining disk space during long continuous runs; each data file occupies about tens of KB.

  5. Compatibility: this version is a temporarily developed simplified version with some known bugs. If you encounter abnormal behavior, restart the software and reopen the project.


6. Typical Workflow

Create project → open project → set auto save → place sample → click Start → wait for auto stop → view data

This workflow is especially suitable for the following scenarios:
- Long-term reaction process spectral monitoring.
- Continuous measurement of large batches of samples.
- Unattended automated data acquisition.
